Dynamics 365 Copilot in Sales - what can it do for you?

I assume no one even remotely interested in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform has managed to miss the word AI and Co-Pilot. Co-Pilot is basically the little AI helper based on OpenAI in the Microsoft platform that makes your life a little easier and frees up time to focus on other more important things like selling more.

Nowadays, Co-Pilot exists in different forms across virtually the entire Microsoft application landscape, but in this article, I will focus on what it does for the users of Dynamics 365 Sales.

As the name suggests, Dynamics 365 for Sales is an application in Microsoft’s Business Applications Customer Engagement suite that supports sales and all its related tasks and processes. It integrates seamlessly with the rest of Microsoft’s product stack, making it one of the enterprise sales force automation leaders.

AI and Co-Pilot are constantly evolving and finding new ways of helping users, so what functionality is provided with Co-Pilot in sales, then?

The main parts are:

  • Record summarization
  • Recent changes
  • Information Assistance
  • Meeting preparation
  • Email assistance
  • News updates

Let’s have a quick look at each of them.

Record summarization

Record summarization gives you a quick summary of your opportunity, lead, and account records. Copilot generates the summary from predefined fields. Great for those moments when you need a quick reminder or work together with others on the same opportunity, and they need to get up to speed quickly without looking through all the fields on the record.

  • You can, of course, change the fields that are used for the record summary

 

Recent changes

To help you manage your sales records, Copilot summarizes any changes made to your lead, opportunity, and account records. It generates a list of recent changes from the records’ audit history. And yes, your administrator can also change the fields included in the recent changes list.

  • View recent changes in your records
  • Get a list of recently updated sales records
  • View the leads and opportunities assigned to you recently
  • Change the fields you want to view in the recent changes list


Information Assistance

With Copilot, you can get information at your fingertips. You don’t have to switch between apps to find the necessary information. Copilot can get product-related documents and fetch answers to sales-related questions from documents stored in SharePoint.

  • Get content recommendations from SharePoint
  • Get answers directly from SharePoint documents

Meeting preparation

Copilot helps you effortlessly prepare for your upcoming meetings. It summarises relevant information from the opportunity or lead records associated with the meeting so that you know what you are walking into.



Email assistance

Copilot can help you compose professional-looking emails, summarize email conversations to add to your customer notes, and remind you to follow up on emails you haven’t replied to.

  • Compose and send email messages using Copilot
  • View and copy an email summary
  • Display unanswered emails

 

News Updates

Copilot can help you stay updated with the latest news about your accounts. News updates can be great conversation starters and help you understand the dynamics of your customers’ organizations.

Ask Copilot for the latest news related to an account, and it will return a list of articles that feature or mention the account, all curated by Bing.
